APTIV, the company that has chosen innovation

Simplicity, standardization of processes, data analysis, time savings and cost reduction... Sébastien Roux-Mollard, Tool Methods Engineer, agreed to come back to everything that Mobility Work CMMS brings to APTIV.
Could you present the activity of your company and the position you occupy?
Aptiv is a global technology company that is developing safer, greener and more connected solutions that ensure the future of mobility. Within the company, I hold the position of method engineer in injection mold tooling and I am also a team coordinator. Our department mainly deals with moulding in order to produce automotive connectors.
At Aptiv we are already preparing for the future, we have embarked on high voltage for plug-in hybrid and hybrid electric vehicles. That is why we have a new range of connectors in production and many other projects that are still under development.
What are the biggest maintenance challenges specific to your sector and business?
At Aptiv we are committed to improving our operational and economic performance on a continuous basis. The main challenge is therefore to make as few rejects as possible, to avoid a loss of profit for the company. Rejects are, in fact, products that are excluded from marketing because of their non-conformities. This is where CMMS is essential to increase the efficiency of our production because it will help us collect a lot of data that will highlight recurring problems and will then allow us to solve them.
How did you manage your maintenance before you started using Mobility Work?
Before adopting Mobility Work, we developed a CMMS internally. However, the development phases to make improvements to the tool were sometimes long and complex. This is why we called on Mobility Work to benefit from the latest innovations and respond effectively to our needs.
How did the Mobility Work adoption phase go?
Getting started with Mobility Work was easy. Each employee was able to test the solution. The possibility of using the software on any connected device (computer, tablet and smartphone) was particularly appreciated and allowed the teams to save time by avoiding going back and forth between our various workshops.
What are the key features that you use?
Mobility Work's functionalities offer us the opportunity to benefit from all the advantages of Industry 4.0. Indeed, with APIs that can be connected to numerous tools, the extraction of data and then their analysis allow us to improve our operational performance and reduce our maintenance costs.
With the extracted data, we optimize the management of spare parts by defining the right minimum and maximum stocks or their quantity over a given period between six months and one year. The implementation of an alert system in the solution also allows decision-makers to better plan the tasks of their teams and to effectively carry out curative and preventive maintenance.

The analytical tool in Mobility Work CMMS
What do you think are the most interesting advantages of Mobility Work?
Technical and human support
Mobility Work's help center and support are very valuable. The rich and accessible documentation directly from the solution combined with the responsiveness of the teams are indeed major assets to take full advantage of the various functionalities of CMMS.
Customizing the tool by the administrator
The ability to choose labels and categorize them according to my needs is also very useful. Concretely, with a personalized use of the tool, the search for information is done in a few clicks and allows me to facilitate my decision-making.
Improving the understanding of the tasks to be performed for teams
Inserting documents (photographs, videos, plans, diagrams) into the solution makes the task much more meaningful for teams who understand and remember the operations to be carried out more easily.
Rationalization of tools
Before Mobility Work, we used three software programs dedicated to the management of spare parts. To avoid going back and forth between different tools and to facilitate our work, we opted for Mobility Work, which concentrates all the functionalities that we found in our previous software.
What was your main fear that could have prevented you from using our software, was it true?
In order to standardize maintenance processes and increase efficiency across the company, Mobility Work needed to extend across multiple Aptiv services (cutting, assembly, and molding). However, my main fear was the difficulty in setting up the software within my department. Fortunately, Mobility Work's support and tutorials were invaluable to us and allowed us to easily get started with the solution.
What would you say to another company considering using our software?
The ergonomics of the solution, its ease of use and its cost compared to its competitors make Mobility Work the CMMS that best meets today's challenges.
A big thank you to Mr. Roux-Mollard for taking the time to answer our questions!
