Itinerant maintenance technicians encounter problems specific to their functions. However, the latest technological advances often make it possible to overcome this. La geolocation is one of them. By equipping yourself with a Mobile CMMS, itinerant technicians more easily locate the equipment on which they need to work, thus improving their daily operations.

How to geolocate your equipment using a mobile CMMS?

In order to respond to the problems of maintenance teams, we have developed a mobile version of Mobility Work. Our mobile CMMS application is available since The App Store and Google Play Store. It was designed to improve the follow-up of maintenance technicians and facilitate the creation of equipment.

First of all, be sure to Create the equipment sheet adequate. To make it easier to find your equipment, enter the following information:

  • Equipment name
  • Equipment description
  • Cost center (financial or geographical division of your equipment)
  • Links between equipment if it is a subassembly or a component
  • Related labels or keywords, essential for the analysis of your maintenance data
  • Equipment photos

Thanks to Mobility Work mobile CMMS, you can also enter the GPS coordinates of your equipment. All you have to do is click on the “equipment geolocation” button and the application automatically retrieves the GPS coordinates of your machine. A map then appears, allowing you to show the exact location of your equipment.

Once it is saved, the map appears on your equipment sheet, indicating its location. You can thus launch your GPS so that it guides you to your machine. Geolocation information is only accessible at your factory, even if your equipment is public. No member outside of your network will be able to access this information.

For which professionals?

For example, the geolocation feature of equipment in your mobile CMMS can be associated with the management of various wind turbines by a itinerant maintenance technician. In the event of an intervention, he can geolocate his equipment at any time and launch the GPS sound navigation in order to be guided to it.

In the same way, when a maintenance technician intervenes on a railway line. He can identify a problem, geolocate his intervention in his CMMS and quickly find where the failure is located.

Finally, the geolocation of equipment can be interesting for industrial groups composed of several factories. It is thus possible to access information relating to equipment present in another factory in the group, and to quickly locate it in the Mobility Work CMMS.
