Manage maintenance spare parts in a CMMS instead of Excel

Inventory and store management for your spares is often associated with maintenance service as well as company performance. It is a strategic point in the management of maintenance operations daily activities, as well as in the planning of future preventive work. Poor spare parts management can result in a loss of productivity for maintenance teams. This is due to the difficulty in locating the necessary parts or possible stock shortages. High-performance CMMS software ensures better management of maintenance spare parts than Excel.
Manage maintenance spare parts in your CMMS
Traditionally, spare parts stocks are managed using an ERP where quantities and orders are in particular traced. However, field operators do not always have access to this software. It is therefore not uncommon for information to be lost during daily activities and for the ERP to be not entirely up to date. To overcome this problem, it is therefore possible to follow the flow of spare parts directly in your CMMS.
How do I add spare parts to Mobility Work CMMS?
The Mobility Work maintenance management platform easily adapts to all your maintenance needs. Its intuitive interface allowed us to simplify the machine tree for better use in the field. Thus, to add your spare parts, several solutions are available to you:
- import your data from an Excel file ;
- duplicate an existing spare part from the community;
- create your spare parts manually.
The creation of spare parts follows the same logic as the creation of equipment. From the home screen or tab Equipments from your CMMS, click on Create equipment. In the equipment creation window, fill in all the main fields (name, description, cost center, labels...), then check “This is a spare part”. Your equipment is then transformed into a spare part.
