New work: improve management via CMMS

Stéphane Monnier, Team Manager New works To the Castelbriantaise Foundry and General Mechanics (FMGC, in Soudan in France) agreed to answer our few questions and to give us his testimony on the use made by his Travaux Neufs team of the GMAO Mobility Work. FMGC is the European number 1 in the production of grey cast iron counterweights. Thanks to Stéphane for the time he gave us for this interview and for his feedback, which is very precious to us.

Mobility Work: “Stéphane, what does your job consist of?

Stéphane Monnier, Maintenance & New Works Manager : The New Works Department is responsible for managing the investments of the FMGC site as well as part of the maintenance of the buildings. Among the main missions of the team, we find:

  • The definition of the investment budgets for the implementation of the Business Plan;
  • The preparation of projects and consultations;
  • The follow-up of the companies involved during the periods of work;
  • Budget monitoring.

Why did you think of Mobility Work?

Stéphane Monnier : At first, I saw this tool as ideal for managing maintenance work on buildings. I quickly understood that managing investment files on Mobility Work could also be very interesting to make it possible to assign companies by project, to control their intervention schedules and especially to count the hours to be immobilized during work (work of maintenance personnel, boiler making, etc.).

Mobility Work also allows us to do regular reviews per project, based on extremely precise data that we did not have and that we now very easily obtain via the analytics tool integrated into the Mobility Work CMMS.

The Big Data tool in the Mobility Work application helps you make better decisions thanks to customizable indicators.

How did Mobility Work adapt to your job?

In fact, the functionalities initially proposed already largely met our needs for current interventions. So we thought very quickly about using the tool within the team. The big evolution has been the integration of the analysis tool for administrators, which makes it possible to monitor project costs, but especially maintenance costs on equipment in MB and spare parts. The tool makes it much easier for us to study CAPEX Maintenance files. In addition, significant improvements were quickly implemented on the visual interface to facilitate use.

Did it have an impact on your daily life?

Yes it is certain. Mobility Work simplifies the search for information on equipment for the preparation of investment files. The tool also greatly simplifies the invoicing of subcontracting companies - “one job -> one task”

What benefits do you get from using Mobility Work for New Construction?

We save a lot of time on tasks that did not bring real added value... Precious time for in-depth work on projects, which are not lacking.

What is the next feature that you would like to see developed in Mobility Work CMMS?

Thanks to the analysis tool, we would like to be able to know all the costs of an equipment during its lifetime.

By selecting an equipment, over a selected period of time, we would like to know:

  • The hours of maintenance spent internally;
  • The spare parts consumed;
  • The balance of service providers on equipment.

The addition of this feature would allow us to very quickly identify the equipment that consumeres the most maintenance costs and would provide very interesting additional data for the orientation of future investments.

For subcontractors, it would be nice to have specific access dedicated to them, only on the tasks that are directly assigned to them. “
