Industrial maintenance gmao

From January 5 to 8, CES 2017, was held in Las Vegas, the world's largest exhibition dedicated to innovation and consumer electronics. Many French startups came to defend the colors of French Tech, including Mobility Work, the new generation CMMS (computer-aided maintenance management) and the first social network for maintenance. This experience was a success for the startup Mobility Work, which was thus able to meet many potential customers from different industries, and present its CMMS tool for easy and collaborative management of industrial maintenance.

Rebirth of CMMS

The digitalization of businesses: a real lever

For several years now, the rise of startups has attracted growing interest from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), but also from large international groups, in many sectors of activity. The field of industrial maintenance should also see the appearance of new players offering more adapted solutions, taking advantage of all the possibilities offered by the technology available today. For many, startups have become key players in the transition to the industry of the future.

The digitalization of industry and the growing competition linked to globalization are forcing companies to question how they operate, to reassess their strategy or to renew their activities. The challenge is twofold: it is a question for them to maintain their leadership while seizing the growth opportunities linked to this transition period.

Interactions between large companies, startups and SMEs

Large companies are therefore increasingly using startups, which stand out for their great inventiveness and speed. Exempt from the various hierarchical and administrative constraints that fall on large companies, they compete in agility (Scrum method), maintain privileged relationships with their customers and are relatively flexible in terms of deployment.

It is a virtuous circle: startups bring new ideas and flexibility and large groups offer them financial support, encourage and manage their talents and contribute to the local and national economy.

Mobility Work, new generation CMMS

The first community maintenance management platform

It is precisely the The path that Mobility Work has taken, the new generation CMMS. The idea of the first industrial maintenance community was born in the factory FMGC in Châteaubriant (a subsidiary of the specialist in the processing of materials) Farinia Group specialized in foundry), and it is thanks to the operational and financial support of the group and its CEO, Frédéric Guinot, that the new generation CMMS Mobility Work was finally able to see the light of day in May 2016.

While start-ups and large companies are predominant, SMEs are not excluded from this new ecosystem. Collaborations between startups and SMEs are still not very widespread, which can be explained in particular by a certain reluctance of SMEs when it comes to financing projects or taking risks. However, more and more SMEs are using it, because the problems they encounter on a daily basis are similar to those of large accounts (innovation and competition).

Syngergies and complementarities

Although the two entities are sometimes wrongly put in competition, they are in fact complementary, and their collaboration can allow them to capitalize on the strengths of each:

  • For SMEs: the use of startups represents an interesting alternative to setting up an R&D department, synonymous with financial advantages and therefore with competitive advantage. Startups bring a new perspective, are a force for proposals and innovations, and embody a new corporate culture that is flexible, dynamic and resolutely optimistic.
  • For startups: for their part, they benefit from the financial resources, the network, the experience and the development solutions that SMEs offer them.

Plan your interventions and monitor them from the field using the mobile version of the application

The CMMS solution proposed by the startup Mobility Work, which was born within an SME itself, has already been deployed in many companies of varying sizes and headcount. This new generation CMMS tool is ergonomic, community-based and analytical, and allows companies of all sizes, from large accounts to SMEs, to take the plunge of digitizing their industrial maintenance service. The development team works in an agile way, using stand ups and scrums. An update is deployed every week to constantly adapt the tool to customer demand.

The Mobility Work team, a new generation CMMS, would like to warmly thank the maintenance teams, as well as all the managers of FMGC and Farinia Group for having placed their trust in it from the beginning, its various partners for their unwavering support, and of course the many members of the community who use and maintain the first collaborative CMMS dedicated to industrial maintenance.
